Our stop in Grand Haven , accomplished several things on our "todo" list.

  1. The clutch plate in the port engine needed to be replaced. Cummins was coming out from Grand Rapids to do the repair. While the boat was out of the water, we discovered we bent the port prop, since we now have spare props Ron had them change it out and they would send us the repaired prop in Peoria IL.
  2. My warehouse in Pompano Beach, FL needed to be moved to a new location. During this time I had a cheap attack and rented a car from ACE Rent A Car, as I was driving back to hotel i noticed a police car following very close. The next time I looked in my rear view I noticed lots of police cars and now they had their lights going. The lead car came over the speaker and told me to stop where I was, put my car in park, take the keys out of the ignition, roll down the window, throw the keys out the window on the pavement. ( now remember this is a 5 lane hwy I am in the middle lane and it's about 5:30 pm in Margate just out side of Ft Lauderdale) by this time 3 police cars have come around and blocked off the road in front of me. Now they tell me to take my right hand and open the door from the outside, step out of the vehicle and put my hands in the air, walk backward towards them. I turned my head to see where i was going and the yelled at me not to look at them and to turn around. What I did see was officers with the guns pulled and pointed at me. When I got to a certain point they took my hands behind my back and put me in handcuffs. Now the k-9 unit is in my rental car. They back away and ask me where I got the car, and I said " a rental" they asked me for the contract and I told them it was on the console. They confirmed that I had rented the car the day before and they sat me on the curb still in handcuffs. They told me the car was reported stolen by Ace Rent A Car in March, now it is August. I don't think I slept well for a week. NEVER rent from ACE they have yet to apologize or return my calls.
