This will be officially the last post for the Great Lakes. We pulled into Chicago a few days early and not the best idea. We were lucky it was after Labor Day. I could not make phone calls as we crossed the lake due to no service. We had a reservation at the Chicago Yacht Club arriving on Thursday. With the holiday they were closed on Tuesday. I made several calls and like Michigan DNR they want you to use a web based reservation system or Dockwa. You have to wait until the marina goes on line and confirms your reservation, what a pain. I made several calls with no luck for a spot. Lake Michigan especially here you really can't anchor out, and very few protected coves. On our chart it showed one in Belmont, I will tell you they need to take that anchorage off the chart as when we pulled in over 75 mooring balls and no place to drop an anchor. So we pretended we were on the east coast and went to the fuel dock that was about ready to close and got fuel & a pump out. ( I don't recommend getting fuel in Chicago, Ron didn't look at the price of fuel when he said filler up.) oh well. We are now pumped out and full of fuel to start the trip down the river. We stayed at the fuel dock that night and got up early and took a ride up the beautiful lake front.

Went to Navy Pier and down to Rush Street to Rosebud's a fav Yes that is a veal chop we split it and could not eat half of it. Went across the street and bought a Giordano's Stuffed Pizza, and had to rearrange the freezer to get it in, but it should be great for a treat one night down the river as they say.

Tonight we will enjoy one last meal at the Chicago Yacht Club, and tomorrow start our journey through the river system. We will lower our anchor light and wirey so we can make the 17' clearance for the bridges. I hope the sun comes out as it has rained all day and the pic's from the Chicago River will be great. The Chicago River is the one they turn green every year on St Patty's day. Just think on St Patty's we were in Daytona Beach. WOW I will be doing a summary soon of miles/locks/ etc More to come !!!!
